Bicycling 2 / 5: Classification of bikes

bikes 02

Nutzrad.de is a one-man operated web catalog with details on work bikes, for example cargo bikes, child transport bikes, sales and advertising bikes, rickshaws and others. To date the website has details on 563 work bikes from 171 different manufacturers and 26 different countries. It is only available in German, but is still fairly easy to understand.

I found the clickable work bike classification chart especially interesting, as it breaks work bikesinto as many as 48 different sub-classes. Here the vertical axis of the table lists different types of work bikes. The first columns in the horizontal axis refer to “normal” bikes with 2, 3 or 4 wheels. The  second set of vertical columns refers to 2, 3 or 4 wheeled “Sessel- und Liegerad” (~ scooter bikes and recumbent bike forms).
